mr. mouse

"Only my friends can call me Mickey, you call me Mr. Mouse."

Hip-Hop Alias pt.2: Captain Murphy

Captain Murphy is the alter ego/alias of underground beat producer Flying Lotus. If you watch adult swim, a lot of his instrumentals/beats can be heard in-between shows and commercials. Up until recently Flying Lotus mostly only produced music. But that changed when he  decided to venture into rap, which came out in the form of the character Captain Murphy. Captain Murphy is a villainous cult leader who embodies and expresses the darker thoughts and feelings of the world. He's very interesting to listen to. His raps get pretty surreal and blunt, but thats the appeal to him. Here's a link to one of his songs below.

Hip-Hop Alias pt.1: Quasimoto

Quasimoto (or "Lord Quas") is an alias/character created by renown hip hop producer Madlib. He's probably one of my most favorite of hip-hop alias' out there.  Quasimoto is known for rapping over chill beats in a high pitched voice like a person who's inhaled helium. His signature sound comes from Madlib slowing his voice down, rapping slowly,  and then speeding it back up. Quasimoto is definitely worth listening to on some downtime. Check out the link  below to one of his songs. This is part one of five illustrations I plan to do.

Little Sis

So my little sister recently graduated high school, and not only that she also got accepted into college. Couldn't be more proud of her. Just wanted to do this doodle to show how much love and appreciation I have for my sister.

Lil Brother

Recently got to see my little brother when he came up to visit with my mom. I have to say, man he's gotten tall. He's taller then me now! That's crazy!

Selfie & Greeting

Hey everybody it's been a while since I last posted. Hope everyone out there is doing well. If you are, awesome, if not then I hope things get better for you soon. In any case I'm going to try and post at least once or twice a week from now on. I'm trying to be more consistent with my blog. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum.

Al Hirschfeld Studies & Sam Cooke

So for the next week or two I'm going to be studying a lot of Al Hirschfeld work. He's such an aspiring artist and I really want to understand his since of design and line work. So for my first study I decided to do a sketch of recording artist Sam Cooke. Been listening to his song called "You Send Me" a lot lately thanks to my job playing it every other day I'm there. Great Song, so great it inspired me to sketch him up. Here's the song below if you want to check it out.
